Farewell 2009! New home, New Year, new direction! YeeHAR!

Rest in peace, poor, hideous monster.
The former resident.
Our new courtyard garden - so far!

Well it has been a huge couple of months since our last blog as we have bought and moved into a new home! We are now the proud owners of a wonderful, architect-designed, 60's house at The Gap. It is U-shaped, low-set and built around a paved courtyard - a rough diamond whose potential we saw and feel in love with. We moved in on 16 December and have had a whirlwind couple of weeks of Christmas and New Year celebrations, fencing, unpacking, sandpit building and planting. What a wonderful way to start a new year!

Painting!! Like mother like son :-)

We started the year with a raven-haired baby of 15 weeks and see out the year with a walking, talking, crazy, funny, little blonde man of 15 months.
Oskar now says 'mummyyyyyy', 'Dadda', 'Bobby' for Ben, Nanna (Nanny), 'poo' (very important), duck, dig, chook and something that sounds like 'bu-ddy' which we are yet to translate...
He loves painting and drawing, playing in his new sandpit and shh-shh-ing his toys to sleep in his cot.

Oskie learnt to scratch and sniff things things from Aunty Lulu.
Seen here sniffing Christmas lights! As you do...

Here's one I prepared earlier!
Oskar proudly displaying his first 'wall mural' shorly after moving in...
Thankfully he waited until we owned a house before getting into drawing on the walls
Fencing the yard. Oskar is very much the outdoor type so the first thing we have done to the new place is put up a lovely high fence to give him lots of sedure space to run around and play in. With all the windows we can watch him from inside! Perfect.

Our new place! Looking deceptively small from this angle

Here is our courtyard mid-way through having the old fence taken down
